INTRODUCTION TO NURSING

(1 Block, one semester)
Pre-Requisite: Grade 10-12

This explores the language of healthcare, medical terminology, and body systems as foundational information for further healthcare studies. Underclassmen who successfully complete this course are eligible for the full year basic nursing course

NURSE AIDE

(1 Block, full year)
Pre-Requisite: Grade 11-12; Parental Permission; No criminal background

This is a course of theory, lab, and clinical designed to guide students in acquiring competency in basic nursing care knowledge and skills and to prepare students for eligibility to take the Virginia Board of Nursing exam for licensure as a Certified Nurse Aide. To be successful, students must be willing to complete extensive course work and classroom/lab and clinical portions must be passed to complete the course. Second to take the State Board licensure exam, a student MUST successfully complete all clinical hours in addition to passing classroom requirements.

Course fee $30.00 (covers PPEs, HOSA membership, CPR, ID); Club affiliation-HOSA.
