Principal's Message

We are moving along to the month of May.  I knew time would fly by once we returned from Spring Break and I have not been disappointed.  We closed out April with our Spring Musical Production: “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”  Ms. Fehlner and the crew have been working countless hours to give CH an energetic and lively performance.  They certainly delivered!  All three performance times were well-attended.  Thank you to our patrons for supporting our art programs and kids!

Writing of programs, we have a large number of scholarships and awards ceremonies ahead.  The activities calendar is the best way to ensure that you are familiar with all of the dates. The spring weather has already been unkind to the athletic programs this season.  Rain has wreaked havoc on schedules.

This month also marks Teacher and Nurse Appreciation time.  All our staff is pretty darn special.  A big thank you to our PTSO for always pulling out the stops and treating our staff to luncheons.  We even had community members and businesses stop in to provide additional goodies and surprises.  Thank you!

Prom and After-Prom are two pretty significant events that kids and staff alike look forward to.  Our After-Prom parents have been working diligently to raise money to provide a safe and alcohol and drug-free event for the kids.

The month begins with AP and credentialing testing and ends with SOL testing.  This always causes a lot of anxiety and stress.  Please know that students are prepared and ready.  Eating a good breakfast and going into testing with a positive mindset often make the difference.

Before you know it, I will be posting the June blog and will be writing at the end of the year and graduation.  Hold on tight Colonials.  We are almost done with the school year!

With Pride,

Kristin Janssen, CHHS Principal
