 High School Schedule

The high school will be operating on an alternating even/odd block schedule with classes being two hours in length. The first/second block classes have an additional fifteen minutes of time built-in to allow for morning announcements and social/emotional learning lessons.


  • Students arrive at 7:30 to begin socially distanced entry at set points with wellness checks.  Arrive by 7:50, so there is plenty of time to go through the entry points.
  • Masks must be worn for the entire day.  This is not optional.
  • Breakfast is available as a “grab and go” utilizing MySchoolBucks.
  • Students report directly to their first or second block.
  • Students transition to their third or fourth block practicing social distancing and utilizing one-way hallways.



  • Lunch is available as a “grab and go” utilizing MySchoolBucks.
  • Staggered release times begin at 12:25.

 High School Class Schedules

The high school will be operating both a brick and mortar and virtual setting for students.   Student preliminary schedules will be available for view starting on Monday, August 24th through PowerSchool.  Letters will be mailed that week for those who are unable to access the portal.  There are instances where courses were unable to load and an alternate class was secured in its place.  Although the frame is set, the specific order of the classes could still change.

 High School Brick & Mortar and Virtual  Orientation: Grades 9-12

The high school will be conducting its virtual orientation on Thursday, September 3rd for all CHHS students.  The virtual event will begin with a video encompassing a welcome back, general expectations, and information regarding BOTH brick and mortar and virtual schooling.  This video will be posted on the website on Thursday, September 3rd at 9 AM for view.  That will be followed by received links from your student’s teachers, so families can live stream into virtual class meetings.    Links will be sent to students using their CHPS email account by Wednesday, September 2nd by their teachers.  These live meetings will not be taped.  Items that will be addressed include: classroom expectations, supplies, and curriculum pieces.  The event will end with the fourth block “meet and greet.”   If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call 804.524.3405 ext. 119 to speak with James Burnett, assistant principal or james_burnett@colonialhts.net.

 Brick & Mortar 9th grade  & Transfer Student Schedule Walk-Through 

This event is ONLY for Brick and Mortar 9th grade and transfer students.  The goal is for the student and two parents/guardians will be allowed in the school building at scheduled times to walk through the student’s schedule.  This is only for students who are new to our building and for those who have NOT chosen the virtual learning option.  Again, this is just a walking of one’s brick and mortar schedule.   

All participants MUST wear masks.  Social distancing practices will be followed.  Again, the event is just for the new student and the parents/guardians.  Siblings and other participants will not be admitted entrance due to the social distancing rules in play.  Park in the student parking lot behind the gym.  Enter on the School Avenue or auditorium/gym entrance.  Individuals will exit the school building using the student parking lot door in the history hallway.    

               August 25th- 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

              August 26th- 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

              August 27th- 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Please sign up ONCE using SIGN-UP GENIUS for a slot.  The high school CANNOT accommodate walk-ups.  Appointments are necessary.  If for some reason you cannot make an appointment that you signed up for, please remove your name.
