The month of September is here!  Our maintenance team has been placing the finishing touches on our school buildings and grounds.   Our new windows are almost fully in place.  New teachers have been trained and oriented.   Staff has been learning, planning, and creating.

This school year is a little different, but it is still going to be a great one!  I am really proud of our staff and school community for all the support they give and continue to give.

For instance, there were so many business and community partners who shared blessings and gifts to our building during pre-service week.  The staff was overwhelmed with your generosity and love.  Who doesn’t love a donated gift card or meal?    Thank you to Arby’s, Barwick and Associates, Cakes and Moore Bakery, Chick-fil-A, China Buffet, Chipotle,  Colonial Restaurant, Dante’s, El Caporal, Grace Home Ministries, Hair Cuttery, Jimmy John’s, Lonestar Steakhouse, Longhorn,  Mi Rodeo, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Outback Steakhouse, Pro Nails, Sedona, TL Nails & Glamour Spa, and Vincenzo’s.

Like last year, we are using a digital platform called Canvas.  This is the same platform that both the high school and middle school utilized, so the children are probably well-versed in it.  If not, teachers will be orienting the kids to Canvas on the first day.

Doors will be opening for students at 7:15am.  Please do not drop children off in the front circle any earlier than this time.  Because of social distancing, children are going to need to report directly to their first block upon arrival.  On the way, they can pick up breakfast from our cafeteria staff.  Breakfast stations will be set up in various entry points in the building.    Students need to arrive with their masks on and practice spacing.   Please bring student schedules from Powerschool, an additional mask, personal hand sanitizer, and earbuds.

The first week of school is always an adjustment period for us all, but it will be good.  I feel blessed.   This is my 12th year as your principal .  It is not something that I take for granted.  We have a wonderful school community that I am honored to serve.

I enjoyed seeing many of you at our orientations and open house.     If you need anything, please ask.  We are just an email or phone call away.

My staff and I cannot wait to welcome our children back on September 7th! We are ready!

With Colonial Pride,
Kristin Janssen, CHHS Principal
