KEYBOARDING APPLICATIONS

(1 Block, 1 Semester)
Pre-Requisite: None

Students review alphabetic, numeric, and symbolic information on a keyboard. Students apply keyboarding skills to produce a variety of personal and business documents.

COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS (CIS)

(1 Block, 1 Semester)
Prerequisite: Keyboarding Applications

Students apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations through word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and integrated software activities. Students work individually and in groups to explore computer concepts and emerging technologies. Prerequisite: Keyboarding Applications.

ADVANCED COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS (ACIS)

(1 Block, 1 Semester)
Prerequisite: Computer Information Systems

Students apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations through advanced and integrated software applications. Students work individually and in groups to accomplish a variety of tasks using both application software and the World Wide Web. Students will also be able to earn a Microsoft Office Specialist certification in a specific Office program. The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification is one of the leading IT certification in the world.

Financial

PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS & MARKETING

(1 Block, 1 Semester)
Prerequisite: None

Students explore the roles of business and marketing in the free enterprise system and the global economy. They study how the American economy operates and prepare to make decisions as consumers, wage earners and citizens.

ECONOMICS AND PERSONAL FINANCE

(1 Block, 1 Semester)
Prerequisite: Grade Level: 11 and 12

Students learn how to navigate the financial decisions they must face and to make informed decisions related to career exploration, budgeting, banking, credit, insurance, spending, taxes, saving, investing, buying/leasing a vehicle, living independently, and inheritance. Development of financial literacy skills and an understanding of economic principles will provide the basis for responsible citizenship and career success.

ACCOUNTING

(1 Block, 1 Semester)
Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Keyboarding skills

This course allows students to learn the basic principles, concepts, and practices of the accounting cycle. Using a manual and an electronic system, the students learn fundamental accounting procedures.

ADVANCED ACCOUNTING

(1 Block, 1 Semester)
Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Accounting

Students continue to study the concepts and practices from the first Accounting course at a more advanced level. They learn accounting principles for departmentalized accounting, payroll, depreciation, inventory, accounting control systems, adjustments, and financial statements.

DESIGN, MULTIMEDIA, AND WEB TECHNOLOGIES

(1 Block, 1 Semester)
Prerequisite: Prerequisite: None

Students develop proficiency in designing and creating desktop-published projects, multimedia presentations/projects, and Web sites, using industry-standard application software. Students apply principles of layout and design in completing projects. Students create portfolios that include a resume and a variety of desktop-published, multimedia, and Web-site projects produced in the course.
