Thank you to Chesterfield and Colonial Heights for partnering with VASCD!

Chesterfield County Schools hosted VASCD's first New Teacher Forum in November. The evening included dinner, a panel discussion, and small group conversations on concerns of new teachers. All new teachers in Virginia were offered free memberships in VASCD for 2017-18. They receive a newsletter each month containing resources curated for new teachers from ASCD's myTeachSource.

Pictured above are experienced educators from Colonial Heights and Henrico who volunteered to serve as panel members. From left to right are Joe Douglas, VASCD President; Dana Barefoot; Tabitha Strickler, VASCD's New Teacher Mentor; Robyn Green, Stephanie Root, and Tiffany Carter. Thanks for your contributions!

Homecoming is a semi formal affair. Students need to take into consideration that they will be dancing so clothing needs to stay appropriate. If there is a question in regards to dress or attire being appropriate, the student needs to see an administrator as soon as possible.

Dress Code for Males
Males should wear dress pants or khakis at their waists, collared button down dress shirt, tie, belt, and dress shoes (no tennis or skateboarding shoes will be allowed). Objects like canes, wallet chains, or hats are not allowed.

Dress Code for Females

Females should wear a fingertip-length dress. Dresses with cut outs, excessive cleavage, plunging neck lines, back outs, bare or visible midriffs, and inappropriate slits will not be permitted. Appropriate footwear (no tennis or skateboarding shoes will be allowed) should be worn. This is a school-sponsored event, so dress code applies. Remember, dresses that are so tight that they ride up when dancing are not permitted. Appropriate undergarments should be worn.

Security will be present and students will be denied access if dress code is out of compliance.
This is an alcohol and drug free dance.

Picture of Chromebooks for 11th and 12th Grade
Students in 11th and 12th Grade will each be given a chromebook this year to help promote and strengthen their education. Staff members are eager to get this new school year ready with this new tool!
However, we would like all of our students to understand the great responsibility that is associated with using this new equipment. Below you will find a digital copy of the handbook that includes guidelines for acceptable use, responsibilities, and an agreement page.  Students in 11th and 12th who will take part in the one-to-one (1:1) program will be required to sign the agreement page in order to receive their chromebook.
Chromebooks will be available for pickup during Open House, Thursday, August 31st, 3pm-6pm. Please bring a current CHHS Student ID and the signed User Agreement form in order to obtain the chromebook.

Talk about Colonial Pride...

Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, and fans of the 2016-2017 CHHS athletic season! We are eligible for Wells Fargo's VHSL "Stay in the Game Award." CHHS will gladly accept this honor at the state VHSL meeting this fall. Thank you for making sportsmanship a priority!

 Class of 2018!
Are you excited?  It is that time of year where we start taking formal yearbook pictures in our cap and gown.  Our school has adopted a new gown for all starting this year.  It is very snazzy and Colonial!
Candid Color will be at CHHS on July 17 & July 24 for Senior Portrait Sessions.
If you are NOT getting your cap and gown picture with our photographer-Candid Color, then, you will need to contact  CHHS to check availability and reserve a gown for the day.
Gowns will be available for purchase in September 2017. Heriff Jones will have meetings with seniors and provide ordering packets on September 8th, October 3rd, October 4th and October 10th.
