Thank you to Chesterfield and Colonial Heights for partnering with VASCD!

Chesterfield County Schools hosted VASCD's first New Teacher Forum in November. The evening included dinner, a panel discussion, and small group conversations on concerns of new teachers. All new teachers in Virginia were offered free memberships in VASCD for 2017-18. They receive a newsletter each month containing resources curated for new teachers from ASCD's myTeachSource.

Pictured above are experienced educators from Colonial Heights and Henrico who volunteered to serve as panel members. Principal's Message

We are entering the month of December. It is a short month for students and staff with two weeks of winter holiday vacation. However, we are jammed with activities and events. Our students and staff are getting into the Christmas and holiday spirit with toy, food, coats, and monetary drives. All of the donations go back to families within our community.

Staff and students are participating in many fun traditions, like the language department's annual door decorating contest. Folks were so excited that administration had to refocus teachers to just making their door zones spirited. We were starting to venture over to kids' lockers, so we needed to scale back. Our choir department completes carols around the school and our food service department gives us a holiday meal.

Writing of the choral department, they have joined forces with the band to put on a winter concert for all on Monday, December 11th, at 6:30 p.m. in our Jane Bryant Auditorium. If you have not yet caught the spirit, the beautiful music these children and teachers have created will shift you there.

There are many wrestling matches and basketball games to attend. Some noted events are the Annual Kickoff Dual that Colonial Heights sponsors on Saturday, December 2nd. It is an all-day event and there are eight schools competing. On Tuesday, December 12th, at the boys' basketball game during halftime, CH will be recognizing and inducting our 2015 State Championship boys' volleyball team into our Hall of Fame. It will be a great night to not only support our basketball team, but to honor our volleyball champs.

The Christmas and holiday season is centered around family and giving. I am wishing you and yours a blessed and fulfilling season.

Here's to the happiest of New Year's, Colonials!
